Hello!! I'm so sorry to ask but if it's okay can you do a thingy with the Volturi (all of them please) on how they would react to their human mate being on their 🩸🩸if you know what I mean. If not that is completely understandable and okay! Thank you for reading!! :3 🌹🫶
𝖁𝖔𝖑𝖙𝖚𝖗𝖎
Contains some nsfw thoughts. I've been thinking of writing a period nsfw fic with one of the vamps, lmk what you think
Aro, like most vampires, has been around for a long long time. And though he does not regard humans as being worthy of his time, you are different. You are his mate. And so he takes it upon himself to learn everything. To read studies, to understand your experience, to know what he can do to help you. The Volturi donates to charities of endometriosis and others. Even long after you are turned he continues, the money is nothing to him and even though you no longer live you know. Aro will always do his best to understand you
Marcus would be so attentive with you and just do as you ask. He's a rather mellow and agreeable man (at least with you he is) and so he is more than happy to be at your beck and call. Want space? you got it. Want to basically be one with him from how close you are? He's laid down and waiting for you to get yourself comfortable. The man just keeps his mouth shut and does as you ask. Happy wife happy life, a phrase taken a little to literally for him in her every moment.
Caius just wants to eat you out honestly. Please ride his face, let him eat you out and taste your blood. He has also heard that it can help with any cramps and pains so, not to worry, dear Caius is at your service. Who is he to refuse you? To refuse a meal and a feast all in one would just be wrong.
Jane only experienced them for a few years, and though she doesn't necessarily remember them she is the most empathetic. Outwardly she may not do much - but in the privacy of your own shared chambers there is nothing you can compare. Nothing soothes like her gentle touch, or the natural remedy passed from her grandmother to her mother to her, and now you.
Alec is another who is at your beck and call, and though he will perhaps tease you a little, he wouldn't take it too far. Sly comments and little pokes are common, but all in good jest. He would never want to actually upset you of course, but if it brings a little smile to your face with an exasperated roll of your eyes then at least he knows you're happy. And if you're happy then so is he.
Demetri also eats you like a man starved. He doesn't care if there is blood all down him, or all in his mouth. You are gorgeous, ravishing even, and he just can't get enough. He could live buried between your thighs, especially during that time of the month. The taste of you is unlike any other to him, and we all know that this man likes it a little dirty and rough.
Felix calls you his whiny baby but still is there for whatever you may need. Tummy rubs, head scratches, couples yoga, he's got you. Don't want to walk or even stand? He's picked you up from the same comfortable position you were in to move you to the fresh bubble bath he's ran for you, setting you down gently in there. Honestly, you could cry from how much you love and appreciate him. Whiny baby, you just need to be loved, don't you?

Can you imagine when Clary or Simon figures out that Alec is just.... Living out a regency dime novel, how fucking funny that would be. Like.
Simon: No because think about it, a repressive society, an inexperienced heroine who's been forced to hide her sexuality, a rich rake who's in a local position of power---
Alec: I'm also in a position of power!
Simon: Yeah, some heroines are like, duchesses and stuff too, but they don't have any real power due to the crippling weight of societal expectations---
Alec: I'm going to kill you.
Simon: but anyway, the rake who's known for throwing these like, elaborate balls, who's closed his heart off to love---NO WAIT. MAGNUS IS MISTER DARCY. Like "I'm ignoring the inferiority of your birth" but instead of classism it's that your parents were magical Nazis.
Clary: You know, I think Magnus is more of a Bingley, I'm pretty sure he was into Alec from like, Day 1.
Simon: Have you seen Mr. Darcy? No way that man was not thirsting after our girl Elizabeth Bennet from like, the first time she sasses him back.
Clary: No, but hold on, I think Jane fits way better, the one who has all of their parents expectations on her to marry well, I mean, Elizabeth is more like Izzy or Jace if anything, like fuck the rules, stick it to the man vibes.
Simon: you realize. This makes YOU Mr. Darcy.
Clary: ...
Clary: Let's go back to Alec being a regency dime novel heroine.
Alec: I hate both of you.
Simon: Honestly, half of it is just how great of a dime novel hero Magnus makes. Like he's rakish and rich, and looks like he'd pull off a cravat. And he's always talking about how much he wants to "ravish" Alec. But their entire love story fits the plot honestly. Hero introduces heroine to the world of desire and passion, and heroine has to choose between the life she's always wanted for herself, or this sexy man with rippling abs who society doesn't want her to have.
Alec: talk about Magnus's body again and I'll find a stake and use you as a wall decoration.
Simon: ...I guess he's a little more violent than most regency heroines but there are variations to the genre.

Voltrui guard with a mate who loves to cuddle without clothes or anything? Like loving the closeness of it 🤗
Volturi Guards Cuddling Skin to Skin
ALEC
Actually its his favourite cuddling position,he feel safe and on moments like these he will even be the little spoon, letting you scratch his hair and take care of him.Never turn into sex,for him cuddling like this its being vulnerable around you and its important to him,he feels in peace
JANE
Normal cuddling was hard to get her to,so this was even more, she only stayed naked for sex so you had a long way of convincing her to this. However once you do she will spend days like this, even cancelling missions saying you were sick(she never told you this)
DEMETRI
He loves being close to you and also loves the feeling of your warm skin,so this feels like heaven for him.He will trace patterns on your thights but with him it can lead to to something sexual, just if you start it tho.He feels like he can fall sleep
FELIX

(A/n: Already day 6? Sheesh... Dont get used to these being this on time😅)
(A/n: Not proofread (as if anything I post /is/😅))
Word Count: 860
Summary- Don't be so receptive next time...
Warnings: Spanking, Degradation, Cumming untouched
Age Rating: 18+ Minors DNI
Alec/Jane Volturi x GN! Reader: Kinktober Day 6- Pain + Humiliation
--------------------
There were many perks of being mated to two vampires.
Even more once you factored in that they were both members of the most powerful coven's elite guard.
You had more freedom than a normal human in this castle. You were free to walk around and use the library as you pleased. You didn't have to worry about pissing anyone off and becoming their lunch. And, you had two loving people who would do anything for you.
What's not to like? Well…
Two mates might mean double the love, but it also means punishment and disappointment doubles.
.
You cry out as another slap echoes through the room.
Your ass stings and tears are falling from your cheeks.
The only indicator that you're even semi enjoying yourself is your obvious arousal. Droplets fall from your crotch and soak the bed sheets from your position.
Jane has you bent over on all fours in the middle of your bed as she brings her hand down on your ass again and again.
"What number was that?" Her voice is almost cold.
"Six…" you hiccup, trying your best to keep yourself upright. You only have four more; if you fail now, she'll start over.
"You remember your colors." She says it like a statement, but you know she wants an answer.
You nod. "Green," you answer her unspoken question.
*smack*
You sob out, "S-sev-ven."
Three more, you've got this.
"What was that?" Jane chides. "A mate of mine has more tolerance than that."
Taking a shuddering breath, you say it again, clearer this time. "Seven."
"That's more like it."
*smack*
Your eyes squeeze shut as you fight to hold back an orgasm. Your face is soaked with a mixture of sweat and tears.
As the feeling ebbs away, you count: "Eight~.."
"Look at them-" Alec seethes from his place across the room. He sits in an armchair with his legs spread apart, one arm leisurely thrown over the back as his other hand rests between his thighs. "-about to cum. Haven't even been touched yet. Pathetic."
"Very sensitive," Jane agrees, eyes not leaving your trembling form.
*smack*
Your arms give out, forcing your head to the mattress with your ass still up. "Eungh~" you couldn't describe that noise if you were given a thesaurus. You twist your fingers into the sheets as you push back release once more.
"Nine…" you whimper out, muffled by the blanket. Drool starts to pool against the fabric as your mouth hangs open from both pleasure and pain.
The sweet sting shouldn't be enough to push you so dangerously close to the edge, but here you are: teetering like the world's most dangerous seesaw all because of a spanking.
God, Alec's right. You are pathetic.
The realization stings a bit, but as you look across the room at Alec, red eyes boring into your own, you can't bring yourself to mind it. You'll gladly be pathetic for him. For her. Anything your mates want you to be.
"How desperate are you?" He snarls. "How desperate must you be for this to be all it takes to wreck you so?"
*smack*
Your mouth opens into a silent scream as Jane spanks you with the most force out of all the others. "...ten~" Your eyes roll back as you cum, hard.
Your body shakes with the force as you collapse fully.
"Typical. Cumming untouched like the needy, whiny whore that you are."
You're not sure who says it as your brain slowly starts to recover from becoming mush.
"Why did you need to be punished?" Jane asks, still behind you.
Why did you? You know why. But you don't?
Your brain is practically pudding right now.
Oh.
Oh, that's right. But you were just bored; you didn't mean anything by it.
"Because I let a lower guard flirt with me…
Your ass hurts, your feelings hurt, and you love it. You're going to be bruised tomorrow. Maybe even within the hour.
That's okay. It just means your mates are going to be extra attentive for the rest of the night.
"Don't let it happen again." Alec commands, standing and closing the distance between you. He grips your hair and yanks your head up so you can look at him as Jane slips into the ensuite bathroom. You hear the water start up and assume she's running a bath for you.
"If we catch our mate acting like such a harlot again, you'll get more than you did today."
The thought drags a debauched moan from the depths of your chest. Finally breaking his stone facade, Alec releases your hair and leans down to scoop you into his arms and take you to the bathroom.
As you said: having two mates has its perks.
You might get double the disappointment, but you also get double the doting and double the pity points after your punishment. Not to mention, if you like it, is it really that much of a punishment? You would have to disagree.
So, yes, you think, soaking in the coolness of your mate as you reach for your other lover once she's in sight. It definitely has its perks…

The To-Do List
Alec x Fem!Reader x Jane
Summary: Alec and Jane have been more annoyingly clingy than usual, and won't take no for an answer.
Warnings:
Innuendo
Mild spanking
NSFW 18+
Word Count: 500+
Requested?: Yes! Enjoy nonny!
A/N: I DO NOT DO INCEST. The relationship between Alec and Jane is NOT ROMANTIC. It is only romantic between Alec x Reader and then Jane x Reader. DO NOT come at me with any twincest bullshit. I WILL block you. You have been warned. Otherwise, enjoy.
I sighed for what was probably the millionth time. Alec was leaning against my desk again, Jane right behind him, her finger nails making a rapping noise as she tapped them impatiently on the smooth wood.
"Really, you two?" I raised my brow at them both.
They had just returned from a mission, and I knew for a fact that they had come straight here from the throne room, courtesy of Demetri.
"You were gone for less than a week."
"Can you blame us?" Alec was behind me in a less than the blink of an eye, burying his face in my neck and kissing it softly, his arms wrapping around my waist.
Jane followed him, cupping my face in her hands and giving my a soft but hungry kiss. I couldn't stop the moan from escaping between my lips. She pulled away, placing soft kisses along my jaw line before making her way to my ear and then down the opposite side of my neck. They both sucked and nibbled my neck in tandem and I let out a low gasp, grasping Jane's arms for support as they cupped my breasts. My thin shirt and bra did absolutely nothing to hide my hard nipples as they continued to tighten with each brush of Jane's thumb.
My panties were already wet.
"Hm," Jane's voice was breathy along the side of my neck, her tongue darting out to soothe the already bruising mark she left. "Do I feel lace, love?"
"P- Perhaps."
I was barely breathing, doing my best to knock myself from the haze of lust that they already had me in.
"Did you say lace, sister?" Alec spoke from behind me, his voice deep and husky.
His hands traveled from my waist to my breasts, giving them a squeeze. It was painful to do, but I batted their hands away, shaking my head and the at least part of the lustful stupor.
"You two can wait a little bit longer. I have a lot to get done today." I was nearly panting.
Jane growled and I had the balls to glare at her. Alec chuckled from behind me, letting one of his hands dart up for on last squeeze before moving out of the way of my slapping hand.
"Alec!"
He just shrugged and went back to his original position of leaning against my desk, giving me his signature seductive smirk. Jane just pouted next to him, glaring.
"If it makes you feel you feel any better…" I began with a smirk, letting my voice drop to a seductive tone of it's own as I leaned forward right in-between them. "I'll be more than happy to add you to my To-Do list. The question is: Do you want separate appointments or would you like to share one?"
Alec's eyes widened in surprise, mouth parting ever so slightly, momentarily frozen. Jane reacted faster, scooping me up and throwing me over her shoulder. She gave me a quick swat on the ass and I couldn't stop the little moan coming from my mouth. She really did like doing that.
"Guys, I was serious. I really do have a long list of stuff that has to be done today-"
Jane cut me off.
"And we are top priority. Come, Alec."
"A shared appointment it is then." I groaned, only to have another swat delivered to my ass.
I was doomed.

Helloooo i am backkkk, Can I request another poly!volturi kings x fem!reader where the kings don't have time to spend time with the reader but she really needs them. So jane and alec (which the reader is close to) have to tell the kings that they are needed.
Awww more angst, I love this idea! Let’s make it happen, ready time, autobots roll out!!!
↱ tangled in duty ↰
➘ summary : the kings should know better than to ignore a mate, even if it’s unintentionally
➘ aro x reader x marcus x caius, twilight x reader, volturi x reader
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/5804d87f51b0ac13c4dd64c80cb0edb7/ab31100db0061053-e3/s540x810/2f407b864284c4bc339f529624c686414fd2e0f2.jpg)
The grand halls of the Volturi were bustling with activity, the air heavy with the weight of centuries-old responsibilities. Aro, Marcus, and Caius, the three formidable kings, navigated the labyrinthine corridors with a sense of purpose that had been ingrained within them for eons. They had always been bound by their duties, their leadership defined by the control they wielded over their domain.
Into this world of calculated power and intricate politics, (Y/N) had been thrust—a vibrant presence that had disrupted their carefully orchestrated routines. The kings were not unaccustomed to companionship, but the presence of a mate was a foreign concept—one that they struggled to incorporate seamlessly into their lives.
Days turned into weeks, and as they continued to go about their duties, they found themselves falling into familiar patterns. They spoke with (Y/N), addressed her with politeness, but the pressing matters that occupied their minds often took precedence. They didn't ignore her outright, but their attention was divided, their focus drawn away by the weight of their responsibilities.
(Y/N) was no stranger to the intricacies of their roles, having been informed of their position long before she became their mate. Still, the growing chasm between her and the kings was becoming increasingly apparent. Their interactions, while civil, lacked the depth and warmth that she craved. It left her feeling a palpable emptiness, a sensation of being alone in a crowd.
One evening, as the moon cast a silvery glow over the halls, (Y/N) stood at a window, her gaze tracing the moonlit landscape beyond. The unease that had settled in her chest grew, her heart heavy with longing for a connection that seemed to elude her.
Aro's footsteps echoed behind her, and she turned to face him, her expression a mix of vulnerability and frustration. "Aro, can we talk?"
Aro's eyes softened, and he nodded, his lips curving into a gentle smile. "Of course, my dear. What's on your mind?"
(Y/N) took a deep breath, her words sincere yet tinged with a hint of sadness. "I understand your responsibilities, Aro. Same with Marcus and Caius but I can't help feeling like I'm becoming... invisible."
Aro's gaze held hers, his fingers reaching out to gently touch her cheek. "You are far from invisible, (Y/N). Our connection is of utmost importance to us, but these responsibilities are deeply ingrained. We have spent centuries attending to them."
(Y/N) nodded, her gaze dropping to the floor. "I know, but I can't help feeling this way. I thought that being your mate would bring us closer, but it feels like I'm still on the periphery of your lives."
Aro's fingers tilted her chin, forcing her to meet his gaze once more. "You are not on the periphery, my dear. But change takes time, especially for beings as old as we are. We are navigating this new chapter as best we can."
She sighed, her heart heavy yet appreciative of his understanding. "I just want to feel like we're in this together. That I'm not just a bystander to your lives."
Aro's smile was tender, his thumb caressing her cheek. "We will find a way to strike that balance, (Y/N). Your presence is a gift, and we intend to cherish it. Patience, my dear, is key."
As his words settled over her, (Y/N) felt a glimmer of hope. She realized that change was not instantaneous, that the bonds they shared would grow stronger with time. The three kings were learning to navigate uncharted territory.
Frustration had been building within (Y/N) for weeks, a simmering discontent that had been hard to ignore. The initial excitement of being mated to Aro, Marcus, and Caius had been overshadowed by their unwavering focus on their duties. Despite their promises to make time for her, they seemed to be perpetually caught in the cycle of work, leaving her feeling increasingly isolated.
One afternoon, as she wandered through the ornate halls of the Volturi, she found herself gravitating towards two figures she considered friends—Alec and Jane. The twins were not just skilled members of the Volturi, but they were also among the few who had truly welcomed her into their lives.
Seeing (Y/N)'s frustrated expression, Alec's brows furrowed. "You don't look happy. Is something bothering you?"
(Y/N) sighed, her shoulders slumping as she leaned against the wall. "It's just... I thought being their mate would mean more than this. They're always busy, always caught up in their responsibilities. I feel like they don't want me around."
Jane exchanged a knowing look with Alec before turning her attention back to (Y/N). "Have you talked to them about how you're feeling?"
"I have," (Y/N) admitted, her voice tinged with exasperation. "But every time, they promise things will change, and then they're right back to work."
Alec's expression softened, his tone gentle. "Maybe they need a little push in the right direction. Sometimes, they get so consumed by their roles that they lose sight of what's important."
(Y/N)'s frustration reached a boiling point, and she nodded. "You're right. Maybe it's time they realize they can't keep neglecting me."
A determined glint entered Jane's eyes. "Leave it to us. We'll make sure they understand."
The next day, Alec and Jane approached Aro, Marcus, and Caius, their expressions serious. "We need to talk to you about something important," Alec began.
Aro raised an eyebrow, his curiosity piqued. "What is it, my dear twins?"
Jane exchanged a significant look with Alec before speaking. "It's about (Y/N). She's been feeling neglected, like she's not a priority in your lives."
The kings exchanged a glance, their expressions shifting from surprise to realization. Marcus spoke up, his voice laden with understanding. "We promised to make time for her, yet it seems we've fallen into old habits."
Alec nodded, his gaze unwavering. "She deserves better than that. (Y/N) is a part of your lives now, and she needs to feel like she matters."
Caius sighed, a hint of regret in his voice. "We never intended for her to feel this way. We just... the responsibilities have always taken precedence."
Jane's tone was firm. "It's time to change that. Take the day off, spend time with her. Show her that she's important to you."
Aro's gaze shifted to his fellow kings, his expression thoughtful. "They're right. We've let our duties overshadow what truly matters."
With a renewed sense of purpose, the three kings nodded in unison. "Thank you, Alec, Jane. We'll make things right."
Later that day, (Y/N) found herself in a beautifully appointed room, one that overlooked the sprawling gardens of the Volturi. The kings stood before her, their expressions remorseful yet determined.
Aro stepped forward, his voice gentle. "We've been inconsiderate, (Y/N). We allowed our duties to come before you, and for that, we apologize."
Marcus nodded, his gaze sincere. "You are our mate, and you deserve our attention and our time."
Caius's lips curved into a rare smile, his voice earnest. "From now on, we will make an effort to prioritize you and our relationship."
Tears welled in (Y/N)'s eyes, her heart swelling with a mixture of relief and gratitude. They had heard her, truly heard her, and they were willing to change.
With a soft smile, she took a step towards them, her arms wrapping around all three kings. "Thank you," she whispered. "All I've ever wanted was to be a part of your lives."
As they held her close, (Y/N) realized that their bond was strong enough to weather the challenges that came their way. With Alec and Jane's guidance and the kings' renewed commitment, she felt a renewed sense of hope—a hope that the future held a balance between duty and the cherished connection they were building together.

EASIER (B)
⚠️WARNING⚠️: Edward is an asshole… BUT THAT’S NOTHING NEW AT THIS POINT… Some insults, and violence but nothing too exaggerated... Also! We kinda hate Bella but not really, because let’s be honest… Edward is kinda a manipulative bitch. Unhealthy relationships (Bella and Edward).
Pairings: male!reader x The Volturi kings.
“Very well, my dear, we shall do as you want.” Aro finished the exchange by getting closer to you and caressing your face, smiling when he noticed how you were thinking of him and his brother in unholy positions, just to avoid giving the plan away. Then he leaned towards you and kissed your lips with passion before pulling away and looking at you with a devilish but comforting smirk. “We trust you, darling.”
Every time that you say you're gonna leave
That's when you get the very best of me
You know we need it like the air we breathe, air we breathe, yeah
I love you so much that I hate you right now
it's so hard to blame you cause you're so damn beautiful
So damn beautiful
After your kings decided to trust you with the task of managing the whole newborn situation, they decided that it was time for you to have a guard on your own. In their words, it was like a special guard, formed by only the best of the best. Vampires that wouldn’t doubt at the moment of killing anything that could pose a treat to you, and that wouldn’t think twice before dying for you -even if you didn’t like that idea as much as the killing one-.
That took you to the exact moment where you stood in the middle of the grand hall of the Volturi castle, bathed in the soft glow of candlelight, you were flanked by Aro, Caius, and Marcus, the three reigning kings of the Volturi and your fated mates. In front of you, a bit closer to the main door of the grand hall, the loyal and esteemed members of the Volturi guard stood. They were the vampires that your mates had designated to protect and defend you. You already knew Jane, Alec, Demetri, Felix and Nikolas. There was a face that you didn’t have the pleasure of meeting before. His name was Raine from what you heard before in the hallways and between whispers, hopefully, you weren’t mistaken. All the vampire’s eyes were filled with a mixture of respect and affection. Something a bit surprising since you hadn’t interacted with the last two mentioned.
Raine, seemed to have a commanding presence and unwavering loyalty, you didn’t need to look at him too long to feel that. He stepped forward, and his gaze met yours, and, just like that, as easy as breathing (even if you didn’t have to) a smile tugged at the corners of his lips. It was comforting, like a silent reassurance of the bond you shared. At that exact moment, you understood that Raine was going to be more than a member of the guard; he would become your protector, your confidant, and maybe with time, he would be like a brother to you.
"I know you haven’t interacted as much or well… never, so… Allow me to introduce Raine," Aro declared, his smooth voice reverberating through the hall, accompanied with a deep and amused chuckle. "A formidable warrior, devoted companion, and beloved mate to our esteemed guard, Nikolas. His unwavering dedication to the Volturi and to your safety knows no bounds. So, we are sure that you will be safe with him…"
The weight of Aro's words hung in the air, affirming the significance of Raine's role not only as a member of the guard but as your protector. Raine inclined his head with pride, his eyes never leaving yours, silently reaffirming his commitment to your well-being.
Jane, the petite yet powerful force within the guard, stepped forward next. Her gaze, filled with respect and admiration, swept across the room, acknowledging the honour bestowed upon her to protect you. Her loyalty to the Volturi and her unwavering dedication to your safety was unmatched.
"You already know Jane," Marcus announced, his voice laced with reverence. "So, we hope that you know that her unwavering loyalty and exceptional abilities make her an invaluable asset to our cause. So, as your protector, she will ensure your safety with her unique gift and unyielding determination."
“Of course, my love… Jane is always welcome with me… She’s aware of that, and she knows that I’m always grateful for her presence and company…” You said softly while looking at the young girls with a warm smile.
Jane's eyes met yours, reflecting a profound understanding and shared experiences. She knew the depth of your bond with the kings and the magnitude of the responsibility entrusted to her. Not only that, but she personally appreciated you. You were like a comforting parental figure and mentor. You calmed her down when her emotions got the better of her and you encouraged her to practice with her powers. Meanwhile, you, in her gaze, found reassurance that your safety was in capable hands.
Alec and Demetri followed suit, they didn’t need any introduction at all, their presence commanding and their commitment unwavering. They had proven themselves time and again, earning their place within the guard and their role as your protectors. Besides, they were also your friends, always willing to talk with you in your free time or just spend with you the few minutes your mates were busy with they royal duties. The loyalty and shared experiences of the two vampires cemented the unbreakable bond that tied them to you. With his unwavering strength and fierce determination, Felix stood tall beside his comrades. His role as a guardian extended beyond physical protection; he was a steadfast companion, ready to shield you from any threat. The trust you had built with Felix over the time you were in the castle made him an integral part of your journey. From the moment you met, he acted like a caring and annoying older brother, always ready to mess with you and protect you when necessary.
And then there was Nikolas, a seasoned member of the guard, his wisdom and experience enriching the group dynamics. Nikolas had been by your side for countless moments, and his loyalty was never tested, because it was so obvious that he believed in the king’s rules and laws that he never need to be put in trial for anything. He was one of the oldest members of the Volturi, so obviously, his guidance and presence carried weight within the guard.
"These are your protectors," Aro proclaimed, his voice filled with pride and reverence. If you could compare your amazing mate to something else, you would think of a child in Christmas morning, when he knows he was able to get the perfect gift for someone. "They have been chosen not only for their exceptional skills and unwavering loyalty but for the love and devotion they hold for you. Together, they form a formidable force, bound by their duty to safeguard your well-being."
Of course, as Aro's words echoed through the hall, a sense of gratitude and warmth enveloped you. This guard was not merely a group of protectors; they were going to be your family, bound by love and a shared purpose. Each member was starting to play a unique role in your life, and you only hoped that with time their presence would turn into a testament to the strength of the bond you were feeling between you and them.
Stepping forward, Aro extended his hand toward you, a gesture of camaraderie and trust. You took his hand, feeling the weight of his words resonate within you. With your new guard by your side, you were prepared to face whatever challenges lay ahead, knowing that their love, loyalty, and shared experiences would guide you through the darkness.
You approached a bit, your steps were measured and confident, a regal grace imbued in every movement. It was only when you were directly in front of your new guard that you stopped walking. "Thank you for joining me," you spoke, your voice carrying a mixture of gratitude and warmth. "It is an honour to have you by my side, to know that I am protected and cherished."
Nikolas met your gaze, his voice steady yet filled with sincerity. "I am privileged to serve you, to stand as your shield and your confidant. My loyalty is unwavering, as is my commitment to your well-being." The members of the guard, Jane, Alec, Demetri, Felix, and Raine, stood alongside you, their expressions a mix of respect and camaraderie.
You smiled, a true and kind smile that was rare but obviously genuine, it was an expression that lit up your features and that was mostly reserved for your adored mates. "Together, we are stronger," you said, your voice carrying a note of conviction. "In each of you, I see unwavering dedication and unwavering loyalty. I trust in my kings' choices and I believe that we will navigate the path ahead with grace and determination."
Felix stepped forward, his gaze meeting yours with unwavering intensity. "We will protect you with our lives," he affirmed, his voice filled with resolve. "Our duty extends beyond duty itself. It is a commitment to your happiness and well-being, to safeguarding the love and connection that binds you with our kings and with us all as your subjects and companions."
Your eyes softened, a flicker of emotion passing through your features. "I am grateful to all of you, for your presence, and your unwavering support," you replied, your voice tinged with genuine gratitude. "To have such loyal companions by my side gives me strength and reassurance."
A few days later, in the dimly lit chamber of the Volturi castle, you stood before a large table where Raine, Jane, Alec, Demetri, Felix, and Nikolas were gathered. The air crackled with anticipation as you prepared to give them their assignment. The kings weren’t there, trying to avoid any type of involvement with the planning in case Alice was trying to see their choices and plans. The last thing they needed was the little vampire acting like some type of prophet and trying to blame the Volturi for the newborn’s attack on the Cullens.
"Raine, Jane, Alec, Demetri, Felix," you began, your voice carrying a commanding tone. You hated when you had to act like a boss in front of your guard. You didn’t want the coven to be like that, like an enterprise, without feelings or any type of warmth, but sadly, considering how stupid the Cullens were acting and how they were about to go to war against lots of newborns that would destroy them without a second thought, you had to be serious and bark orders while thinking of a strong strategy that would help the smaller coven.
"I have a task of utmost importance for you.” You started your explanation while looking at the vampires in front of you. “The existence of our kind is at stake, and it is your duty as representatives of the Volturi clan to handle this matter with precision and efficiency."
Raine, with his piercing gaze and an air of quiet strength, nodded, his expression serious in the usually laid-back face. Jane, with her captivating aura of power and authority, even for her young appearance, stood by Raine's side, ready for any challenge. Alec, exuding calmness and a commanding presence, prepared himself for the mission. Demetri, with his unparalleled tracking abilities, exuded confidence and determination, and Felix, radiating sheer physical strength, stood tall and resolute. You knew they were all ready for whatever plan your mind had created. They would follow you without a doubt, ready to end with the threat towards your kind.
"Jane, you will take charge of the operation. Your keen intellect and combat prowess will be invaluable in this endeavour. Besides, we all know how extraordinary is your gift… Raine, the newborns probably won’t have any idea of who you are, so… I’ll need you to use your power to disorient and incapacitate them, stop their abilities, make them feel weak. Alec, reinforce their illusions and provide cover when needed. Demetri and Felix, you two will be in charge of tracking and subduing them… ensure their compliance." You paused for a moment, allowing the weight of the the task to settle upon them.
"And Nikolas," you continued, your voice filled with warmth and gratitude, "I will need you to stay by my side. You know that I consider you a loyal protector and confidant, besides… The kings would feel better if you stayed behind to protect me… You, surely know, that your presence is essential to my safety."
Nikolas, who had been standing silently in the background, nodded understandingly. He knew his duty was to safeguard you, and he accepted the responsibility with unwavering dedication. That was his main task from the moment you arrived in Volterra, to protect you, to defend you against anyone who tried to hurt you.
"While you won't be joining the others on this mission, your role here is just as crucial," you reassured him. "I trust in your abilities to protect me, and I know that I am in capable hands."
Nikolas met your gaze with a determined expression. "You can count on me, my prince…" he affirmed, his voice filled with loyalty.
After making sure that Nikolas understood why it was so important for him to stay with you while the others went to fight, you turned your attention back to the rest of the guard.
"I have every confidence in your abilities. Show the newborns the might of the Volturi, but exercise restraint and judgment. Our goal is to restore order and ensure the safety of our kind, not to needlessly destroy. If there’s someone salvageable, anyone, that would be a good addition to the clan, or if someone shows true regret and is willing to learn the rules and follow the law, let’s give them a chance. The Vulturi don’t give second chances, but let’s consider that those newborns, never had a chance to begging with."
As the team prepared to depart, you stepped forward, your gaze filled with unwavering trust and gratitude.
"Remember, you are not alone. Together, we will face the challenges that lie ahead. Your bond as a team is as essential as your individual talents. Protect one another, trust one another, and return to me victorious. The kings and I trust in your abilities and your good thinking…"
With those words, the group of Volturi representatives turned to leave, their resolve unwavering. The weight of their duty pressed upon their shoulders, but they carried it with honour and determination.
As you sat in the quiet meeting room of the Volturi castle, your gaze fixed on the regal figure of Jane as she prepared to leave. Everyone else had already left. The meeting is long over. And you couldn’t help but think that the room exuded an air of solemnity, the walls adorned with ancient tapestries depicting scenes of the Volturi's immortal reign. Maybe it was the words that were exchanged just a few seconds ago, maybe it was just how the sunlight filtered through the tall windows, casting gently rays that danced upon the polished marble floor, creating a serene ambience. You weren’t sure. Still, you had a second mission, the planning was over, and now… the second part of the plan needed to start.
Seizing the moment, you rose from his seat, your expression calm yet resolute. This was going to be quite difficult for you, but still, you knew this was necessary. Your eyes met Jane's, locking onto her crimson gaze with a steadiness that bespoke your unwavering resolve.
"Jane," You called out, your voice carrying a quiet intensity that cut through the stillness of the room.
Jane paused, her graceful movements halted as she turned to face you. Her porcelain features held a trace of curiosity, her piercing eyes sparkling with a mix of curiosity and expectation. She was ever an enigma, capable of both unspeakable power and surprising depths of empathy. Still, when you looked directly at her, she felt so young, so inexperienced in life, like a child wanting comfort and protection. Sometimes, in secret, when nobody could see your thoughts or feel your emotions, you let yourself think of her and Alec as your children. Still, you weren’t sure that it would be welcomed so you kept those feelings to yourself.
With a composed demeanour, you continued talking, your words were measured yet purposeful. "Before you depart on this mission, I have something important to convey," You stated, voice projecting a confidence borne from the knowledge that every word had been carefully considered.
Jane's brows arched ever so slightly, her attention fully captured. She remained silent, awaiting the revelation that would shape their course of action.
"In the event that you and the others discover information that could alter our plans, that could change everything," You explained, words deliberate and laden with significance, tone of voice soft but serious. You weren’t joking about this, and it was clear that you truly believed that something would change your guard’s course of action. "I ask that you exercise your judgment and take the necessary actions to ensure our success. But please, do not inform me of any such developments."
Your request hung in the air, the weight of its implications palpable. You understood the reason behind it—the need to shield the choices of the kings and your own decisions from the penetrating gaze of Alice. After all, knowing her, it was obvious that she would also see your choices related to the newborn threat. She always thought that her gift was almost perfect, and she would make sure to try to use it against any plan that the Volturi could create. The unspoken tension that had surrounded them all since the meeting's inception now found its voice in this solemn exchange.
Jane's gaze softened, her features betraying a glimmer of understanding. She nodded in acknowledgement, a silent agreement forged between you and her. Though you knew that Jane changing the plans depending on the situation would leave you in the dark, you understood that it was necessary and accepted the essential part of this arrangement, knowing it would safeguard their endeavours from the prying eyes of those who might manipulate fate.
With that, Jane resumed her departure, her figure gracefully gliding through the doorway. Meanwhile, you remained behind, contemplating the gravity of your shared secret. In this moment of quiet reflection, you took an unnecessary deep breath and prepared yourself for the unknown, ready to face the consequences of a future shaped by the choices of others. Right now, you quite loathed Alice and her stupidly useful gift.
Is it easier to stay is it easier to go I don't wanna know oh but I know that I'm never ever gonna change and you know that you're always gonna stay the same
Is it easier to stay is it easier to go I don't wanna know oh but I know that I'm never ever gonna change and you know you don't want it any other way
As the moon reached its highest point, casting a luminous glow upon the enchanting and mysterious gardens of Volterra, the Volturi kings prepared for a momentous occasion. You weren’t aware of this, but it was there, surrounded by the whimsical beauty of nature that helped them hide from the chaotic world and stay in that small piece of heaven and safeness, that they had meticulously arranged a scene that would forever mark their love and devotion into your heart.
The gardens came alive with the soft glow of innumerable fairy lights, delicately twinkling like stars suspended from the branches of ancient trees. Their ethereal radiance bathed the surroundings in a warm, romantic ambience, enveloping the space in a magical embrace.
They knew it wasn’t the best time for this type of surprise, but they couldn’t help it. They were tired of hiding you, of acting like they didn’t consider you their equal. They wanted for you to be able to stand proudly by their side when they had to judge a rebellious clan, they wanted for the rest of the vampires outside their coven to respect you and fear you like they respected and feared them. They desired to be able to listen to your ideas and plans without having to hide because of your lack of a royal title. It wasn’t fair, you were one of the smartest people they’d ever met, and they didn’t want to keep insulting you by ignoring that fact. You were their mate, the only being that was solely made to be by their side, you weren’t made to be hidden and to stay put like a trophy, you were born to rule, to protect and defend what you and they considered important. Unlike them, you showed the compassion that they had lost many years ago, and they felt that it was time that the vampires of their world had a ruler they could turn to, not only to accuse another coven but to seek help and comfort.
They looked at the garden, a cosy seating area nestled beneath the sprawling canopy of a centuries-old oak tree, adorned with cushions and blankets in hues of velvety midnight blue and rich crimson. Soft, plush pillows were carefully arranged, inviting you to sink into their comforting embrace. The idea was to show the comfort and kindness that you usually showed to them and to your friends inside the Volturi guard.
A table, draped in elegant silk, stood nearby, adorned with crystal glasses that glimmered as they caught the moon's tender light. The lack of silverware, plates and food was quite obvious, but they couldn’t do anything about that. It wasn’t like you could eat, so the idea of sharing a meal would be ridiculous and wasteful. Still, they had mixed some blood with your favourite wines from when you were alive, wanting to show you that they cared not only for the current you, but also for the things that had made you into the being they loved so much. This careful mixture of alcohol and blood was a token of the kings' unwavering commitment and affection. Just like that, from the carefully opened bottles that rested in the middle of the tastefully decorated table, a tantalizing fragrance permeated the air. It was a delicate blend of freshly picked roses, intertwined with the aroma of rich, aged blood. A symphony of scents of sorts, a harmonious combination that reflected both the beauty and the primal essence of their immortal existence. An existence that they hoped to share with you by their side.
As you entered the gardens, your footsteps were muffled by the lush grass. It wasn’t possible, not at all, but the kings could almost feel how their hearts quickened with anticipation. The Volturi guard, standing sentinel around the designated area, exuded an aura of reverence and support, they had decided to take a moment to maintain this moment untouched by the responsibilities of everyone outside. Their tasks were simple, make sure that you four wouldn’t be interrupted. Each member of the guard, adorned in their regal attire, wore a gentle smile, their eyes conveying unwavering love and acceptance.
Aro, your charismatic and visionary king, the spokesman of the three kings, stepped forward, his eyes gleaming with a mischievous sparkle. "Ah, my love, we have orchestrated this moment with utmost care and affection, for we have longed to profess our love for you in a setting as extraordinary as the bond we share."
Then, Caius, your strong king, let his stoic facade softened by the warmth of his emotions and spoke with a resolute tenderness. "In your presence, we have found solace and completeness. The depths of our hearts are forever entwined with yours. Tonight, we offer you the promise of a love that transcends time and fate."
Finally, your quiet but caring king… Marcus, the always introspective, with his gaze full of profound intensity, whispered words that carried the weight of centuries. "The course of our immortal existence has been irrevocably altered since the moment we met you. Your presence fills our lives with purpose, and your love has breathed new life into our souls."
With their words hanging in the air, the Volturi kings stepped closer, their eyes locked on your own, their hands extended in a gesture of unwavering commitment. Aro, his voice both commanding and gentle, continued, "In this enchanted garden, beneath the moon's tender gaze, we ask for the honour of your hand in a union that surpasses mortal bounds. Will you become our beloved, our partner in eternity?"
This is it… They were finally asking you the biggest question of your inmortal life…
Overwhelmed by the sheer magnitude of love and devotion before them, your heart swelled with emotion. Tears of joy danced in your eyes as you gazed at the kings and the extraordinary scene they had meticulously crafted. The tears would never fall, unable to find release thanks to your unnatural anatomy, but still, the emotion was there, your face and whole body were showing off the multiple feelings that were going through your heart and mind at the moment. It was a moment that surpassed your wildest dreams. You knew they wanted to marry you, you were aware of the fact that this would eventually happen but… Now? Like this? This was better than any dream, better than any imagined scenario that you had created in your mind. This was a thousand times better because this came directly from them.
You knew this wasn’t the time to be shy, you needed to convey all your feelings and you were planning to do it. Your kings had created such a beautiful proposal for you, there was no way you wouldn’t correspond to their feelings in the best way you could. So… with a voice filled with love and unwavering conviction, you replied.
"I spent most of my life until now… chasing a love that would never come true… But it’s in your arms, that I have found solace, passion, and unwavering support. To be chosen by you, to be cherished and loved by all three of you, is a gift beyond measure. With all my heart, I accept your proposal, knowing that our love will continue for the rest of our lives and that, it’s only your love, the thing that I was truly craving when I was lost….”
And the hardest part of all is that we're only built to fall
Is it easier to stay is it easier to go I don't wanna know oh but I know that I'm never ever gonna change and you know that you're always gonna stay the same
On the other side of the world, a similar, but quite different picture was starting to appear as the sun began its descent beyond the horizon, casting a soft golden glow across the meadow of the forest of Forks.
There, Bella stood on the delicate precipice between love and doubt. With the warmth of the evening air wrapped around her, mingling with the scent of grass and wildflowers, she asked herself if this whole situation was what she actually wanted. Still, she stood there, waiting faithfully doing her best to stay immobile as she waited for Edward to arrive.
Bella’s heart was heavy with conflicting emotions, doubts creeping into her mind like shadows, whispering their insidious words. She couldn’t help it, the problems, the fights, Edward's own actions in front of you and in front of the kings of the vampires, all of those little things were starting to pile up and they threaten to pour out of her heart, filling her head and soul with doubt and questions that nobody seemed to want to answer. Also, a part of her questioned if Edward truly loved her as deeply as he professed. After all, the way he reacted to meeting his ex-partner, even after he told him that it was you that was hanging onto a relationship long over, it was confusing. You had already moved on, so… Why was Edward so upset about it? Why did the brunette make such a scene accusing his ex-lover of horrible things and trying to attack them? And then… his actions towards her during their trip back to Forks, his reluctance to turn her into a vampire, to make her inmortal so they could be together forever… Did he really love her and cherish her as much as he said to do? Or were his words merely empty promises, masking a more self-serving desire to keep her in his world for a while? Like a little pet, a little thing you want to love, knowing that they wouldn’t live as long as you do… Did Edward see her as just a fleeting love? Maybe he saw her as something he could play with and pretend to love with the reassuring thought that she would grow old and die while he would stay young forever…
Bella gazed at the shimmering light filtering through the trees, the same light that had once illuminated their undying love. She still remembers the hidden encounters, the kisses in the forest and laying in the same meadow as Edward while talking sweet nothings to each other. She remember how he explained about you, about his disturbed ex-lover that dreamed of a wedding that would never happen and that fantasied about a relationship that was long dead. At the time, she was so worried for Edward, so saddened by the fact that he was tied to you, and so resentful for the fact that she had to hide her love under those threes and little bits of lights… But now, the same lights and soft shadows cast doubts upon her heart, casting darkness upon the very foundation of their relationship.
At this point, she couldn’t help but ask herself if anything of what Edward told her was even true. When she met you, you attacked her and yes, acted crazy but… were your actions really the act of someone delusional and trapped in the past? Or were those the doings of someone that was betrayed and lied to by the man they loved? Edward and herself -even if now she was ashamed of it- had made fun of you behind your back, joking about your mind being trapped in a delusion where your ex-boyfriend was still in love with you… and yet, now, she was the one who felt trapped.
She was entangled in a web of her own dreams and desires, her own personal simulated world. She felt weak, stupid… She let herself be moved by the allure of immortality, the idea of being the only one in the life of a creature that was designed to be perfect, the idea of forever being with Edward, of being loved for all eternity, the idea of being so important for someone that he was willing to ignore his own nature just to love her… that lies, that illusion held her captive. So, still with all those doubts and worries plaguing and poisoning her mind and heart, she stayed there, standing motionless, waiting for her boyfriend.
And just a few seconds later, there he appeared, a figure emerging from the depths of the forest, it was just the blink of an eye for Bella, but suddenly, he was in front of her, looking directly at her expression while his eyes glowed with an intensity that had once mesmerized her. Now, she wasn’t sure what she felt looking at that unnatural gleam in his eyes, she was just glad that he couldn’t hear her thoughts, thankful for the shield nature had given her. Edward had approached her with a confidence that both comforted and unnerved her. His voice, so sweet and melodic, echoed through the meadow, blending with the whispering breeze. She felt like he was trying to touch her with his words, cover her and hide her from the world… She used to be grateful for that feeling…
"Bella," he said, his voice laced with tenderness… but was it real? "I have loved you from the moment I laid eyes on you. Every beat of my heart, every fibre of my being, longs for you. There is no doubt in my mind that you are my destiny, my forever."
His words reached her ears, but her heart yearned for more than mere declarations. Besides, his promises and sweet nothings seemed to stay there, unclear and almost impossible to be true. Did he yearn for her because of his love? Or was it because of some weird instinct that he couldn’t control? The doubts that plagued her thoughts begged for reassurance, a tangible proof of his unwavering commitment, a way to show that he truly loved her and wasn’t only following what he thought he had to do...
Was this proposal an act of genuine love, or a desperate attempt to keep her bound to him?
As Edward dropped to one knee, a small velvet box in his hand, Bella's heart fluttered with a mixture of hope and trepidation. What? She wasn’t confused, she understood what his words and actions meant but… She wasn’t even eighteen just yet… She was barely finishing high school… Did she want to tie herself to Edward without a chance of experimenting with other things in life? She wasn’t legally allowed to drink, she hadn’t thought of universities or if she wanted to work in something in particular… Hell, she was still a virgin!
But there it was… The delicate ring nestled within the box glimmered in the waning sunlight, a symbol of an eternity she had once craved. The commitment and future she once asked for… She even pushed Edward to take her back after he tried to leave her when the first vampire attacked her… Then she saved his life and almost pushed him to commit to her forever…
But…
Did she genuinely want this? Weren’t all teenagers allowed to do a couple of stupid things before becoming real adults? Still, how could she say “no”?
At that moment, looking at that gorgeous ring in that delicate velvet box and looking at Edward that was waiting for an answer with a small and charming smile, she felt the weight of his expectations pressing upon her, and she wondered if she could truly deny him.
Her mind raced, questioning the very essence of their love. Was it pure and selfless, or did it stem from a possessive need to control her destiny? Did Edward want her because of her? Or did he want her just to avoid losing something else that he considered his? Doubts clouded her mind and she knew that if she didn’t control herself, she would start shaking… Still, she found herself hesitating, unable to voice her doubts. The fear of losing him and the dreams she had woven around their future kept her silent. She spent so much time thinking of being with him. She risked her life, ruined other relationships, and forgot about the other possibilities of her future just to stay by his side, so… If she decided to say “no”, what would be of her? What would she do? At this point, she wasn’t sure if she could be Bella without Edward by her side…
At that moment, the conflict within Bella reached its climax. She couldn't deny the love she felt for Edward, nor could she ignore the doubts that now consumed her thoughts. Still, there was no more time, Edward was there, in one knee, waiting for her answer and she was about to get all that she thought she wanted… She just needed to ignore the questions. It wouldn’t be so hard, and maybe with time, she would get used to it…
And so, with a mixture of reluctance and resignation, she whispered, "Yes, Edward. I will marry you."
As he slid the ring onto her finger, sealing their fate, Bella couldn't shake the lingering doubts that were whispered in the recesses of her mind. But for now, she would bury them beneath a facade of acceptance, hoping that time would reveal the truth behind Edward's words and intentions. In any case, she at least knew that Edward loved her or cared for her to the point of wanting to marry her and that would be enough… That needed to be enough.
-It won’t be…- Her mind whispered, almost like answering to her silent promise. Weirdly enough, the voice sounded so much like yours that she couldn’t help but feel like she was making a mistake. Still, it felt like it was too late to change her mind now. She was going to marry Edward, and with that, she would turn into a vampire, like she was always meant to be. She was sure that with time, everything would fall into place. The doubt was, where would she fit in the whole picture once that happened?
Is it easier to stay is it easier to go I don't wanna know oh but I know that I'm never ever gonna change and you know you don't want it any other way
I love you so much that I hate you right now
It's so hard to blame you cause you're so damn beautiful
A/N: Hey guys, sorry for taking so long. Here's the update, hope you like it.

How Felix reacts to dating a bookworm
Pairing: Felix Volturi x reader
Warnings: None
Requested: @xxx-wounded-angel-xxx
Story:
Hi! Could I get my beloved Felix Volturi with a bookworm reader please? Thank you :)
***
• Not long after you had found each other as mates, the very first thing that Felix learns about you is the fact you liked to read
• You always had a book with you, weather it’d be an actual book or a book you’re reading electronically
• To his amazement, you finish at least eight books before the end of the week and to Felix, that seemed to be a world record
• You tell him that reading is something you loved doing because it makes you feel like a traveler, traveling to places and even different universes
• The book series you were currently reading at this time was the Unwind series by Neal Shusterman and because Felix couldn’t quite get the knowledge of what the book was about, you go on to explain in a way he could understand it better
• “What’s it about?” Felix asks, not knowing what he’s really in for
• When it comes to talking about your favorite book, or a book Felix has never heard of, such as the one you’re reading now, you go on without missing a detail while telling him about how much you enjoy it
• Felix isn’t all that much into reading, but that was something that was about to change later on. But in the meantime, he respects you greatly for it, as you are his mate after all
• Every night without fail, you are always reading a chapter or two in bed while being snuggled up against Felix’s side, he would have his arm gently draped around you while pulling you as close to him as he could get you. You haven’t caught onto it yet, but while doing that, he would be silently reading along with you every page you turn
• For as long as you can remember, you would always read something until you felt tired enough to fall asleep and sleep the night away
• As you had gotten older over the years, and still to this day, you sometimes have those nights that even reading can’t do the trick in helping you to sleep. But nearly restless nights are a rare occurrences, they don’t come across you as they would to some others
• When those nights do come, however, Felix would offer to read aloud to you and you agree on the spot without hesitation. Handing over your book, you got into a comfortable position as you listen to his soothing voice narrating the story with your head on his chest and your eyes closed
• Moments later, you started dozing off until you allow for sleep to take over, finding the night’s rest and sleep through it peacefully. Felix would still be there holding you as the day’s sun comes up
• It took time, but before either of you know it, Felix had just about the same amount of love for reading as you, his mate
• Though you both have many things in common, this was the best one yet, right after the love you have for each other

Felix Volturi Character Analysis - Part 1: An intelligent soldier plagued by insecurity
━ ◦ ❖ ◦━━ ◦ ❖ ◦━━ ◦ ❖ ◦━━ ◦ ❖ ◦━━ ◦ ❖ ◦━━ ◦ ❖ ◦━━ ◦ ❖ ◦━━
Compensating for a deeply rooted insecurity:
Unlike most of the Volturi guards, Felix does not possess a ‘gift’. He is instead kept around for his combat and battle techniques. In a coven that rewards powerful and unique supernatural gifts, and appears to be hierarchical with cloak colours prominently displaying everyone’s ranking, this would not be a comfortable position to be in.
I do not think Felix is easy to replace, hence why he is still a high-ranking member; to survive this long in the Volturi he must have demonstrated exceptional skills. However, he is replaceable because it is possible to overpower and supersede him through training and hardwork. Without a supernatural power like most other guard members, he will constantly need to fight for his position and prove his worth.
“If there had been one better, the Volturi would have traded up. Aro didn’t surround himself with second best.” (Breaking Dawn).
We know at least one other permanent member who relies on their battle skills for a position in the Volturi (Santiago), and I do think Aro actively cultivates a competitive culture amongst these combat vampires in order to incentivise them to work harder and keep them on their toes.
A way to regain power and control:
Consequently, it makes sense for Felix to seek power elsewhere to regain his self-worth. In this case, it manifests in the form of a flirtatious persona, and an almost ‘impulsive’ lust for bloodshed.
1- Flirting: Felix consistently adopts a promiscuous and flirty act. We see him flirting with Gianna in New Moon, with Bella at the end of Eclipse, and during the confrontation in Breaking Dawn.
“As Felix passed the desk, he winked at Gianna, and she giggled.” (New Moon) “Felix looked up. He let his hood fall back slightly so that I could see him wink at me and smile.” (Eclipse) “Felix chuckled. “You look good. Immortality suits you……” “Felix winked.” (Breaking Dawn).
I do not think he is genuinely attracted to them - he would happily murder them…Instead, he flirts because he can. It enables him to regain a sense of control, and with his otherworldly vampire beauty, most human women would reciprocate. For a vampire in his position, this constant validation would be flattering.
2- Fighting: Felix craves violence, and when appropriate, he actively provokes opponents to initiate a fight.
[Edward]: "Then I'm afraid that I'll be unable to accept Aro's invitation, Demetri." "That's just fine," Felix purred. (New Moon)
This makes sense because combat is an area he excels at. It is his way of proving his worth to the Volturi, and again, to exercise control over his opponents.
Underestimated Intelligence:
However, although his actions might fuel his ego, Felix is not blindly impulsive, and behind all his actions there is always a greater purpose for the benefit of the Volturi.
He only provokes when it serves a purpose, and when he’s fully in control:
In the alleyway confrontation in New Moon, his violent threats serve as a part of his and Demetri’s ‘good cop, bad cop’ psychological tactic.
Later in the book, his provocation of Edward occurred deep within the Volturi layer, in the presence of Alec and Jane. Any rashness on Edward's part would not only be futile, but would also give the Volturi more justifications to prosecute them, if Aro wishes. Luckily, Alice also recognises this.
“Edward only smiled, his expression contemptuous. Then he froze. ‘Dibs,’ Felix called casually from behind. Edward turned, a low snarl building deep in his chest. Felix smiled—his hand was raised, palm up; he curled his fingers twice, inviting Edward forward. Alice touched Edward's arm. "Patience," she cautioned him.” (New Moon)
In Eclipse, he ceased all his teasing when confronted with Cullen's strength against the newborn army. This is a situation that went against his expectations, and with only five Volturi members present, he knew better than to irrationally provoke anyone.
“Eighteen, including this one,” Carlisle answered. Jane’s eyes widened, and she looked at the fire again, seeming to reassess the size of it. Felix and the other shadow exchanged a longer glance. (Eclipse)
He is always professional and alert:
He was one of the three vampires Aro chose to accompany him to meet with the Cullens during the confrontation/battle. Indeed, his professionalism really did shine through.
“Hello again, Bella.” He grinned cockily while still tracking Jacob’s every twitch with his peripheral vision.
“The brawny ones, Felix and the others like him, focused their suddenly hopeful eyes on me. They had not been sure of what my shield repelled, but it was clear now that it would not stop a physical attack” (Breaking Dawn)
This brief glimpse into Felix in action highlights why the Volturi keeps him around. He is an observant and professional soldier who could simultaneously distract their opponents while keeping his own focus. He is always on high-alert, which is a stark contrast to his impetuous and unconcerned persona. He is also able to think strategically and adjust battle plans immediately.
Felix purposely creates this illusion of an irrational muscle who relies on his physical prowess to trick opponents into underestimating him. This is an effective tactic, as Felix was conveniently forgotten about by the Cullens and their allies when everyone was devising their battle plans in Breaking Dawn. In reality, he is much more strategic and complex. After all, he was one of the few remaining survivors from the battle-that-didn't-happen.

Rosaline // Alec Volturi: Chapter Two
Summary: “How the blood rushed into my cheeks” Rosaline was no stranger to hard work, she’s been working as a maid for as far back as she can remember. Starting off as a scullery maid and ending up as a Lady’s Maid for the fearsome Jane Volturi. She’s just trying to keep her head on her shoulders and her heart beating, what happens when she catches the eye of her Lady’s stoic twin brother? What does Alec Volturi want with a lowly maid? “So scarlet, it was maroon” Series masterlist
Chapter Two
This is a strange castle. As servants we’re taught not to let our eyes wonder, not to ask questions and most definitely not to let our minds run wild with theories. There will always be idle gossip between maids but it will never be confirmed. The normal whispers that flow through the walls of a noble family consist more of affairs or who we think will be next to marry. The ones in this house are much more sinister, much more confusing. The older maids, who have somehow survived to work here for multiple years, try to discourage any chatter about the Masters. They say we don’t need to know, to keep quiet and keep our heads down. I have yet to see the Masters in person, I’ve heard about their red eyes and how they don’t sleep. How each member is impossibly beautiful and beautifully cruel. On every third day of the week, all servants are required to stay in their quarters until late afternoon. We try to talk amongst ourselves but the blood curdling screams ring out and bounce off every wall in the entire castle. I had experienced two, the sounds of their scream echoed in my bones and made it impossible to sleep that night. At first the other maids comforted me but now they say I will get used to it, it’s just something that comes with the work.
Annie sat me down when I first started to tell me who each of the Masters were, as the head housemaid it is her duty to ensure all of the maids in the castle are doing their work properly. It’s a role she takes very seriously. There are three main Masters; Aro, Caius and Marcus. Those are the three who are in charge, they are the head of the household, we are to refer to them as Master. A step down from the Masters is; Chelsea, Jane and Alec. The rest of the members are Heidi, Demetri and Felix. Apparently the family has a strict hierarchy to adhere to but no matter how low down they are from the Master’s they will always be a lot higher up on the social ladder than any of us. Just before Annie gave me the news of my new position she made sure to let me know about Lady Jane. She gave me a list of things to avoid doing and some things that she knows Lady Jane approves of, she warned me of her temper which has only increased since her twin brother Alec had been away. According to Annie the two are inseparable so if I was to serve Lady Jane I would also serve Alec too. He went away the week before I arrived, there had been no whispers of where or why he went, and until he came back Lady Jane would continue to torment.
I awoke with a start, my heartbeat racing against my chest. Taking a deep breath I focused on the mirror across the room, my heart calming down. Only to jump again when another thud was heard. Light floated into the room from the small window at the top of the wall, the sun had yet to rise so I knew it was sometime before 6:00. I gently raised from the bed and softly got dressed for the day. I knew to be as quiet as possible and to make my steps as feather light as I could.
“Girl.” If not for the stern demanding tone of the word, the voice itself could almost be musical. It was officially my first day as Lady Jane’s maid. I stepped into her room as quickly as she spoke, my head tilted down and arms clasped respectfully behind my back.
“Yes, Ma’am” I responded, I felt my heart stutter in fear, as if she heard it, I could practically feel her smirk in response.
“Ah, a new girl. Tell me, did you know of the last?” Her tone was teasing, how could one speak so lightly over death?
“No, Ma’am. Sorry, Ma’am, I did not meet her,” I whispered back. I knew to be quiet but I could not trust my voice to be any louder than a whisper.
“Speak up, girl. I do not care if you knew her. You know what happened to her, do you not.” It wasn’t a question, it was a warning. Of course I know what happened to Hattie, I know what happened to most of the maids that she got annoyed by or tired of.
“I do, Ma’am.”
“Good. Now get me ready for the day.”
The morning was spent getting Lady Jane ready for an important meeting with the Masters in the late afternoon. Her twin brother, Alec, is due back today. I overheard her speak to Lady Chelsea about it while I was running her bath. Most Ladies like their maids to bathe them but I was forewarned that Lady Jane liked privacy so as soon as the bath was filled, I nodded and left the room. I got the clothes ready for her day and laid them out on the plush four poster bed that stood in the middle of her large room. My room could fit inside here 15 times over.
“Girl, I am ready.” Lady Jane’s commanding voice drew me out of my thoughts. I stood by the bathroom door and slightly lifted my head as she came out of the bathroom, a fluffy white towel wrapped tightly around her body. She came to stop in the middle of the room as her eyes ran out of the black dress I had chosen for her. “My brother bought me this dress.” She hummed, a rush ran through my body thinking I had correctly chosen. “Now, girl.”
“Yes, Ma’am” I hurried over to her, careful to keep my footsteps light. It didn’t take long for Lady Jane to be dressed yet she still seemed impatient as if she could do a corset up a quarter of the time it took me. However, any amount of appreciation I got from choosing the right dress completely disappeared when it came to doing her hair. My fingers clumsily attempting to braid her hair, I could see the annoyance darken her eyes.
“I’m sorry, Ma’am.” I stuttered, I could feel my eyes brim with tears as I worried how she would react.
“Just get it done.” her tone was clipped and frustrated.
“Yes, Ma’am” I nodded, my hands shakily undoing the mess of the plait I had created. My fingers softly combed through her hair, instead of going back to braiding, I twisted the strands together to create an elegant updo.
As soon as I was finished I stepped back, my head turned down and my hands behind my back. Lady Jane stood up and swiftly turned to face me, her expression thunderous. I should’ve asked Annie or one of the other maids to teach me to braid properly, if I’d have known it was one of Lady Jane’s favourite hairstyles I would have practised every spare moment. Her eyes narrowed on me and in the next second all I could feel was an imaginable amount of pain spread through my body, it was like my blood was on fire. My knees buckled as I fell to the floor but I could hardly focus on anything other than the agony coursing through my body.
And then all of a sudden it stopped. I gasped as I abruptly remembered how to breathe, trying to get as much air as possible into my lungs. “Get up, girl.” Lady Jane sounded bored, she looked at me uninterested as I attempted to stand up. My legs were unsteady, I was like a fawn standing up for the first time. Lady Jane was already at her bedroom door by the time I was fully stood up.
“Learn how to braid.” Lady Jane said before she opened the door and walked towards the throne room. I quickly followed after her, my legs moving before my brain commanded them too. I stayed a few paces behind, close enough if she was to need me but not too close to seem familiar.
My mind was racing, I didn’t understand why her eyes were red, why she didn’t sleep or how she managed to cause all that pain without even touching me. I fought with my mind to forget those thoughts, I just had to be better than I wouldn’t have to go through that again.
Waiting outside the throne room I made eye contact with a male servant of one of the Masters. My watery eyes, shaky breathing and unreliable legs must have given away what had happened for he gave a sympathetic smile. I just turned away with my head down. The servants are not allowed in the throne room, we are permitted to wait outside in silence or we were to do a job if ordered.
We stood outside for a while before all of a sudden the massive double doors were thrown open, I kept my head down and tried to not show the fear that was bubbling inside. I knew my heart beat gave me away. In an instant a figure was in front of me, a cold finger rested below my chin and tenderly lifted my head up. He was gorgeous. They all were but this man was breathtakingly stunning. His dark hair fell slightly into his eyes as if it had recently had a hand brush through it, his eyes–like the others–were a wonderful red, I could see them swirling with emotions but none I could confidently pick out. His lips are full and were a pretty shade of pink, I wanted nothing more to reach out and gently swipe my finger across them. His eyes met mine, my heart lurched and breath hitched.

Note
how would you rank the volturi from least to most cringe (minus afton, of course because Cringe Georg is an outlier and should not be counted)?
I was going to say, you left out the most cringe one.
But alright, let's do this.
Caveat that we don't see much of the Volturi canonically, so this is my going on some major limbs here.
Caius
Look, Caius will light his own witness on fire with 0 regrets. The man defies cringe because there's only brutality and not a single moment wasted questioning it.
There's being certain of your decisions then there's being Caius.
Chelsea
While Chelsea failed when it came to making people like Afton (he was that cringe) she herself can tune relationships such that you don't find a cringey person cringe. That puts her towards the top of the list.
Heidi
By her gift, Heidi is the antithesis of cringe. She is so hot, you want to party with her and buy her timeshare/sketchy vacation package. You don't even question it, you're the one who feels cringe in her presence.
Demetri
Given Demetri's gift and his role and what we see of him, I imagine he's an extrovert and tries to stay on good terms with everybody. It's more or less his job to meet and greet, party, and make the rounds to make sure the Volturi can find who they need to.
To do his job properly, Demetri cannot be cringe.
Aro
While eloquently spoken and amiable from what we see of him, he did spend the entire meeting with Bella and Edward gushing about Carlisle. Neither Bella nor Edward noticed, but it was mildly terrible of him and gets him this spot in cringe jail.
Marcus
Canonically, Marcus is too depressed to function. The man can't say words, he's so depressed. Now, this isn't really cringe, as Marcus is too depressed to be cringe about anything, but it is really weird and probably uncomfortable in prolonged exposure from an outside point of view.
Bella got two seconds of him and she noticed the guy staring into space.
Felix
Canonically, Felix has said cringey things, such as telling Bella she looks hot as a vampire.
That was not necessary, Felix.
(He ranks higher than the others in that we only see him do it once and he's not necessarily cringe by his very nature/position. Had Felix gotten more lines, he'd be bumped up the list).
Renata
We don't see Renata much in canon. We know her backstory from the guide, which has uh some interesting details, and we know she guards primarily Aro.
This means most of her time is spent hanging around Aro, listening into conversations she wouldn't otherwise, and always being there in the room for... awkward moments such as someone's execution or painful conversations.
It's not so much Renata's cringe herself, but her very presence in moments where you'd just want to be talking to Aro, Caius, or Marcus means she's there too.
Corin
Corin isn't so much cringe herself, but she brings cringe with her. Her very power is to get you stoned. Corin is constantly the one sober person at a party, surrounded by people too drunk to function.
Jane and Alec
They're twelve forever. Twelve is the cringiest age in the world. Imagine being cringe forever with no hope of escape while also being two lethal death machines. The only person who will talk to you about pokemon is your sibling.
Eleazar
This one's more of a topic of hot debate, as our narrators think kindly about Eleazar but reading between the lines he was politely shown the door.
Afton
Look, he has to get mentioned. Infamous for being universally disliked and entirely useless.

How would the guards be with a human mate that has a gift similar to Didyme, where she makes everyone around her feel happy and content, so naturally Marcus tends to be near her all the time.
𝖁𝖔𝖑𝖙𝖚𝖗𝖎 𝖌𝖚𝖆𝖗𝖉
It's been a WHILE since I've posted so Im going to do as many as I can right now and post them steadily to try and catch up with all the requests I've got
Alec
While, yes, he respects the kings and Marcus as his master that doesn't make this any less awkward for him
He really enjoys his alone time with you - obviously, you're his mate - but now he kind of has to be in work mode around you a lot because Marcus is so drawn to you.
Your gift is both a blessing and a curse to him because of this. He just wants to spend his free time with you
He also isn't that big into pda, especially in front of Marcus as he's the king and it feels disrespectful
Loves you, loves your gift, but isn't necessarily too pleased with the situation
Jane
In the social hierarchy of the volturi, it doesn't get much higher that her position in the top of the elite guard
While she greatly looks up to the kings, perhaps even seeing Caius as a mentor of sorts, your gift drives her bonkers
If you can control it, great. Please do.
One) she values all her emotions, they are there for a reason and even the negative ones hold ourpuse to her
Two) she does love your gift as well as you but at the same time she's possessive and everyone is drawn to you all the time
Three) she's constantly on edge. Jane is a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to her work and with the amount of people that surround you, including Marcus, it's difficult for her to wind down
She's also really not into pda, so it will be difficult to have sweet moments and affectionate times
But when it's just you and her, she loves your gift, it calms get and makes her feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside. It was weird for her at first but it's made the castle feel more like a home to her with your presence there
Demitri
Perfect! Now he gets to brag to everyone about how lovely his mate is
Loves to flirt with you infront of everyone just to watch you goggle and your power come off in waves - it's bordering addiction at this point but he couldn't care less
Will gross other guards out with pda to make them give you some space, tough luck if you're not into it because it's one of the few ways you can get some privacy
He's empathetic to Marcus to an extent, and is happy that you get along well with the kings because it only further insures your safety
He's so ronamtic with you, even before knowing your gift, but will go to the furthest lengths to make you feel as happy as you make him feel (both with and without your gift)
Felix
Felix loves your gift. It actually made him fall in love with you all over again when you both realised after you were turned
You're like the literal embodiment of sunshine to him and he just wants to pick you up and never let you go
You've broken him and turned him into a softie (he already was, he just refused to admit it)
Isn't too bothered about how drawn to you others are, so long as they know that you're with him and are respectful about it
The same goes for Marcus, so long as he's respectful of the fact you are your own person with your own life and things to do he's happy that you've made a friend through your gift

22. INFORMER
I stood on the balcony of our room in the castle, staring up at the sky. Alec had his arms wrapped loosely around my waist and his chin rested against my head.
“Do you think we’ll get snow soon?” I asked hopefully.
The December air was crisp and just cold enough that it could carry snowflakes down to the ground.
“Maybe,” Alec replied. “If we don’t get snow here in Volterra, we could go up to the Alps for a few days. Have you ever been skiing?”
“No. Would you teach me?” I asked, turning to face him.
“Of course,” he said with a grin. Alec bent his head down and pressed a kiss to my lips. “I could teach you how to snowboard, too, if you wish.”
I grinned and said, “Definitely.”
Alec kissed me again. One of my hands drifted up to brush through his messy curls. He groaned and pulled me closer to his chest. I deepened our kiss, pressing my tongue into his mouth as my fingers tightened in his hair.
“My sincerest apologies.”
We broke apart from each other to look towards the doorway, where Demetri was standing with his hand over his eyes. He kept his eyes covered as he said, “The masters want all of the high guard in the throne room, now. Someone has come to report that the Cullens broke a law.”
My body went rigid and Alec’s arm curled tighter around my waist.
“Which law?” Alec asked carefully.
“I do not know. She has not said.”
Alec nodded. He glanced at me, then looked back at Demetri and said, “We will be there shortly.”
The tracker left our room and Alec turned back towards me. He murmured softly, “Eve . . . we have to go.”
“Y-Yeah,” I whispered.
But I couldn’t get my body to move. I was frozen in place with the terror that my sister had told my father about our world. If he knew about us, about our secret , he would have to be turned or killed, and I knew that he could never handle this life. If Bella caused his death, I would never be able to forgive her. I would want to kill her with my own hands.
“Eve, my love, please listen to me,” Alec pleaded softly, taking my hands in his. “Your father is safe. Nothing will be decided until we get there and hear the informer’s testimony. We might even be able to convince the masters that your father can keep his life. . . . But we must go.”
I took a slow, deep breath, then nodded. Alec squeezed my hands and pressed a kiss to my cheek.
We changed into our guard uniforms, then began to walk down to the throne room. I was gripping Alec’s hand as if it was my lifeline. He was holding my hand just as tight, letting me know that he was there for me.
We entered the throne room. All eyes followed us as we moved to stand beside Jane. She gave me a concerned look. It was clear that everyone knew that this hearing was about the Cullens, which only made me more anxious. If I was still human, there was no doubt in my mind that my heart would be racing in my chest. Alec rubbed his thumb along my own in an attempt to calm me.
The masters entered the throne room, thankfully drawing all the attention away from me. The masters’ personal bodyguards flanked them as they moved to their thrones. Once they were all seated and their guards positioned properly, Demetri and Felix led in the informer.
She was tall and blonde, gorgeous even for a vampire, and she had the same golden eyes as the Cullens. Her eyes flickered around nervously when she saw that the full high guard and all three kings had gathered in the room.
“Come forward, Irina,” Aro said. “I was told you have a crime that you wish to report.”
“Yes,” she said softly. The blonde hesitated for a moment before she lifted her chin slightly and said, “The Cullens have created an immortal child.”
Instantly, relief flooded through my body before shock and horror quickly replaced it. Even Aro seemed surprised as he urgently extended his hand towards Irina. I linked to his mind without his request, watching her memory with him.
Irina had been standing on a tall cliff, looking down at a clearing below. A little bronze-haired girl ran through the snow-covered field at an inhuman speed. She leapt up into the air — much higher than any human could ever hope to get — then landed so lightly that she barely left footprints in the snow.
My breath left me in a rush when Aro released Irina’s hand. I glanced at him and saw his mouth pressed into a hard line. Various thoughts swirled in Aro’s mind, but one was clear.
The Cullens would not be forgiven for this crime. There would be no leniency this time. Telling a human about our world was nothing compared to the crime of creating an immortal child.
Aro said, “Thank you for your report, Irina. We would like you to remain in Volterra with us until we go confront the Cullens. Purely to protect you from their retaliation, of course.”
The blonde seemed to hesitate, but after a moment, she nodded. “Yes, Aro. . . . Thank you.”
“Heidi, will you please show our guest to one of the rooms?”
The curvy brunette quickly moved forward to guide Irina out of the throne room.
“They truly created an immortal child ?” Caius hissed the moment the door was closed.
“Yes,” Aro confirmed. He glanced at me. “Eve, you saw her memory just as I did.”
I nodded as the others looked at me. I said, “It’s true. . . . She . . . she was so fast, and could jump so high and move so gracefully. . . . There is no way the child is human.”
“The Cullens must pay for this infraction,” Caius demanded angrily. “They have broken our laws without any repercussions. No longer, Aro.”
Aro turned his head sharply towards Caius. “They will pay, brother. This will be their downfall. . . . Yet I fear confronting them with only our guard. Their coven has many ties to other covens and nomads around the world. We shall need witnesses to the trial, to ensure that the truth of what happened will prevail. We cannot allow anyone to think that we destroyed the Cullens without just cause. . . . We will take two weeks to gather our witnesses before we confront the Cullens. Demetri, I expect you to take the lead in searching them out. . . . You are all dismissed.”
The high guard slowly trickled out of the throne room, murmuring amongst ourselves about how the Cullens could be so reckless and cruel as to create an immortal child.
“I wouldn’t think it could be true if Aro and Eve didn’t see the child in her memory,” Santiago said, shaking his head in disbelief.
Felix scoffed, “I can’t believe they are being so reckless these last few months. First, there was the mess with the human girl and Edward’s refusal to change her, and now an immortal child? Carlisle was with us for two decades. He knows that this will not be taken lightly. . . . This will be the death of all of them.”
“They will fight,” Demetri replied and Felix took his hand. “We all saw how Edward was willing to fight us because of his human. . . . How likely is it that the two of them wanted the child as their own?”
“Is that something that Bella would do?” Jane asked me.
I hesitated. “I . . . I don’t know. I would like to say that she would never doom a child to that fate, but . . . I really am unsure now. All she thinks about is herself and what she wants. If she said to Edward that she wanted a child. . . .”
“He would go get one for her,” Alec finished for me. I nodded and he squeezed my hand tightly.
“I just can’t believe they would be so selfish as to kidnap a child and turn them,” Corin said, shaking her head. “Most of the immortal children we’ve had to destroy were the trueborn children of recently turned vampires. They couldn’t imagine watching their child grow up and eventually die, which I can understand, to a point. But this . . . this is horrific.”
“I think that’s enough for today,” Felix said when I had managed to knock him to the ground for the third time during our training session.
I nodded and got up. Felix stood and patted my shoulder gently before he walked into the castle. I sighed and closed my eyes, tipping my face up to the sky and breathing in deeply.
“Can you smell the rain coming?” Alec murmured, wrapping his arms around my waist from behind.
“Mhm,” I hummed.
I turned to face him, looking up at his beautiful face. He smiled warmly at me, which drew my own smile out. I said, “You should train with us. I know your power has always been strong enough to protect you from anything, but . . . I’m worried that Bella will be able to withstand it, and maybe even protect others.”
Alec reached up to cup my cheek. I let out a soft breath and leaned into his soft touch.
“You’re right. She could protect others. . . . I’ll train with you,” he said. He leaned closer and pressed his forehead to mine. “I won’t let anything happen to either of us, my sweet girl. I love you.”
“I love you, too,” I murmured. “Thank you.”
“Of course,” he replied, drawing me even closer to his chest. I nuzzled into the crook of his neck while he buried his nose in my hair. “I will always do anything and everything I can to protect you. I would never willingly leave your side. You are my heart and soul, now and forever.”
After a long moment, Alec and I broke apart. He kept my hand firmly in his as we walked up to our room. Alec laid down on the couch in front of the fireplace, drawing me down to lay with him. I settled into his side, my head resting on his chest and my leg wrapped around his. Alec rested my hand on his chest. He began to trace his finger along each of my fingers, following the bones all the way to my wrist before tracing a path along to the next finger. I watched his movements with half-open eyes.
“Why would they do this?” I asked quietly. “Why would they create an immortal child? They must know that it’s a terrible crime.”
Alec sighed and admitted, “I don’t know, my love. I don’t understand why they would risk their lives to commit this vile crime. . . . But I do know that, now that they have created the child, they will be completely devoted to it and will risk everything to protect it.”
“Why? I mean, I know that they consider it their own child, but . . . to risk their lives?”
“I do not understand it any more than you,” Alec murmured. “Aro says that it is because the children are so adorable and endearing that they instantly love them. And where there is intense love, there is fierce protectiveness. . . . But when the children are turned, they stay their ago no matter how many years they live. They cannot control themselves and they do not listen to anyone. They would destroy entire villages in a tantrum and their creators would simply spirit them away to a new village, as if nothing happened. It was an endless cycle that quickly became catastrophic.”
“All because someone was desperate to have a child,” I said, scoffing. Alec nodded.
I hesitated, then looked up at him. “Did you ever want kids?”
“No, not really,” he admitted with a shrug. “Before, I assumed that it would eventually happen, if I could ever find a woman to marry me, but . . . I never wanted my children to suffer the way Jane and I did. I couldn’t bear the thought of them going through everything that we did when we were children. People hated us for things we couldn’t control. . . . You know, in a way, I feel such sympathy for the immortal children. They didn’t ask for this life, they had no say over it. The adults in the situation were the ones that doomed them to their fate.”
“People can be so cruel and selfish,” I murmured. I took a deep breath, then let it out slowly. I said, “Honestly, I wish I could say that I’m shocked that Bella would do something like this, but I’m not. All she ever thinks about is herself and Edward. . . . I can easily picture her wanting to have a child with him but not being able to. I’m sure the moment that he saw that she was upset, he would want to fix it. . . . And the others would go along with it because they let them do whatever they want, no matter the consequences.”
“I’m still amazed that Carlisle would allow it,” Alec said, shaking his head. “He knows the dangers, he knows the punishment is death for anyone who even knows about the child. . . . Aro would have spared him and his mate if he had simply come directly to us and told us what they had done.”
I replied, “He’s too loyal to his family. He would never report any of them for anything they do.”
“Which is unfortunate for everyone involved. Now he, his mate, and his family will all die because of their actions.”
I nodded in agreement.
Alec seemed to hesitate for a moment before he said, “I know that you are not fond of her, but Bella is your sister. Are you sure that you can handle watching us destroy her?”
The answer to his question was easy.
“Yes. She might be my sister by blood, but we were never close to each other. We never really bonded. . . . I know I seem callous, but I truly do not care about her, especially after our visit to Volterra. She was willing to manipulate me and lie to me and let me be miserable just so she wouldn’t feel as guilty about leaving Charlie all alone. She knew what I was feeling — hollow and agonized and awful — and she didn’t care.”
Alec smoothed his hand over my hair and I sighed, relaxing into his touch again. He pressed a kiss to the top of my head and murmured against my hair, “I just wanted to make sure, love.”
“I know. . . . Thank you.”
I shifted fully onto his body, straddling his waist. I took his beautiful face in my hands and slowly pressed soft kisses along his cheeks, down his nose, and across his forehead. Alec chuckled warmly and wrapped his arms around me to keep me pressed against him.
“My sweet girl,” he whispered after I finally kissed his lips.
Alec reached up to brush my hair out of my face. He trailed his fingertips along my jawline and a small shiver ran through me. His lips curled into a smirk as he stared up at me, his crimson eyes brimming with pure love and adoration.
“Do you believe in fate?”
“I didn’t use to,” I replied truthfully. He hummed and stroked my cheek. I leaned into his touch and smiled down at him. “But then I met you.”
“Such a romantic,” he teased.
I rolled my eyes. “What about you?”
“I’ve always believed in fate. . . . I don’t know why, because I didn’t ever really believe in a God or Heaven or anything religious, but I always believed there was . . . something. Not a higher power, but . . . some purpose behind everything that happened to me, to my sister, to anyone in the world. When I was turned, I thought my purpose was to join the Volturi, but now . . . I think my purpose was to find you, to love you and make you happy, to make you realize that you deserved so much better than how you were treated by everyone else in your life.”
I leaned down to kiss him fiercely. When I pulled back, I teased, “And you call me a romantic.”

Hiiiii I've said it bef9re and I will say it again because let's be honest YOU'RE WRITING IS AMAZING!!!! I absolutely adore your creativity!! I was wondering if I can request something?
Once again it's for alec volturi (shocking I know😂😂) yandere/possessive alec x vampire reader. You can choose how they meet but basically he kidnaps her and she fights for a long time just entirely resists him physically and verbally like constantly talks back. Until eventually after many escape attempts (failed because jane or felix or demitri brings her back evrytime) she gives in and starts to love him. He collars her as a sign of his possessive ownership and she is submissive to him and with him but aggressive ig to everyone else( sorry idk how to word that last part) if it's too much or you're not comfortable I understand❤❤
(A/n: Got me smiling and shit-😂)
(Just in case anyone either never read the books or doesn't remember it from the books but, since vampires are the same temperature, they feel warm to each other)
(Here's a pdf of the book; page 436, 7th line down for any doubters lmao)
Word Count: 1,464
Summary: In which Alec takes a bit too much interest in his mate
Warnings: Kidnapping, Stockholm Syndrome, Collaring
Age Rating: Pg 13
Tactile Power Transferal- the ability to take another vampire's power with a touch and transfer it to whom the user pleases.
Very useful
Unfortunately for you, that's what Aro thought too
Double jeopardy because you found out your mate was a member of the elite guard
You would have been mostly fine with it had he not gotten possessive as much and as quick as he did
It got to the point of not being able to leave the castle unless under order of the kings
Naturally, you fought the imprisonment, but you were never successful
Which leads us to your current predicament:
"Put me down!" You yell, fists pounding the executioner's back.
Not that it affected Felix in any way.
You had managed to escape once more, but was quickly tracked down by Demetri. Once you were cornered, the larger of the two had unceremoniously tossed you over his shoulder so the trip back was -albite just a fraction- easier.
"You do realize that if you stopped running, you wouldn't have to be carried back all the time?" The tracker quips.
"Shut up you damned, bloodhound..." you growl.
He scoffs. "Ouch. That'd actually hurt if it was scent that I track."
You settle for glaring at him, not wanting to deal with him any longer.
-
"From now on, there will be guards stationed outside your chambers; they will be posted outside the door and windows." Aro states with a finality that you can't bring yourself to argue.
Caius chimes in as you lower your gaze to the floor. "How many times do you think we will put up with your traitorous actions? The only reason you're still alive after running away all these times is because of who your mate is. Don't mistake it for leniency. And don't think our patience isn't thinning. Keep this behavior up and you will see first hand why we are known as such fierce rulers."
"Take her back to her room." He commands Felix.
So starts your walk of shame back to captivity.
As much as you hate him for repeatedly placing you back in your cage, you appreciate that he only walks quietly behind you through the halls.
Finally reaching your room, you see that the guards are already positioned. You step in, locking the door behind you.
"You'd be a lot happier here if you stopped fighting."
"I'm not in the mood for you, Alec." You can't bring yourself to care that he's seemingly made himself at home in your room. Too mentally exhausted from constantly pushing against an immovable force.
Somewhere in the back of your mind, you know you'll never escape. That it would be so much easier to just give in. Maybe you should. It's not like you have any other options.
'You could always expose yourself. They'd have to kill you then...' No. You ignore the tiny voice. You're not that desperate -not yet any way.
In a flash, Alec has you pinned to the wall by the neck.
His face is twisted into a gnarly sneer.
"You think you have a choice?" He lets out a crude laugh. "You will 'be in the mood for me' whenever I so much as snap my fingers, do you understand me?"
He emphasizes his question by applying more pressure. You can feel the beginning of cracks snake their way around your neck as he waits for your response.
You know it's not just a bluff. He's ripped a limb off before when you spat every curse you knew at him. Turns out the process of limbs reattaching themselves isn't a fun one.
"Do. You. Understand?" He presses further.
"Yes." you whimper as the pain increases, skin splintering like wood left to dry rot.
Just as soon as it started, he lets you go. You let out an unneeded yet shaky breath. He's never threatened death, even if it would only be temporary.
Shit.
There really is no saving yourself.
'All it takes is one step into the sun,' the voice reminds.
'Though, if you really don't want that, there is another way...' The voice is right, but that would mean going against everything you've been fighting for.
'You don't really have much of a choice anymore,' it reminds.
Maybe you're right...
-
Over the next few months, you had stopped trying to run. You had fought every nerve in your body that jumped when Alec was near. Started to force yourself to initiate physicality and affection. Even though you felt like you were burning with every touch and pet name, you pushed through it so that maybe, just maybe, you could trick yourself into thinking you actually loved him.
You don't know when pretending turned in to being genuine. All you know is that one day you were feigning being happy to see him and the next, you were practically bouncing in place as you waited for him to get back from his guard duties.
Only going through the motions of a kiss turned into eagerly pressing kisses to his face and neck, making your way to his lips when you'd been separated for weeks.
You'd fallen and you'd fallen hard. It should scare you, but you can't bring yourself to care when you were no longer mentally and physically in pain. Not when you stopped being guarded 24/7, not when Alec seemed so happy about your new attitude; constantly bringing you beautifully crafted pieces of jewelry or carefully arranged bouquets of your favorite flowers. Not when he would whisper the loveliest things to you in the dead of night as he held you against his chest.
The kings were also pleased with your turn of attitude, though the same couldn't be said for a specific pair within the guard. Let's just say you still hold a grudge against the two that repeatedly humiliated you; carrying you around the castle over their shoulders -or worse, one time they had you held between them: one holding you under the arms while the other held your ankles like you were a fucking jump rope.
So, no, you wouldn't be amicable towards those two any time soon.
You break from your thoughts when your mate enters your, now shared, bedroom with a small box in hand.
"What's this?" You question when he sits next to you, handing the parcel over.
You gently pull the ribbon and take the lid off to reveal a beautifully woven choker. It's a black satin, sewn with a deep red lace. In the middle is a little bow with silver 'A' charm.
"Just a little something to show who you belong to," Alec answers.
You glance to him and back the collar. "It's beautiful." You run you finger lightly along the red lace. "Put it on me?"
"Of course," he holds his hand out for the box. You hand it to him amd turn to the side.
You feel his warm hand glide across the back of your neck, moving your hair out of the way. Alec brings the collar across your front and easily clasps it in the back, fixing your tresses to their original position.
You turn back to him as he takes hold of your jaw, pulling you into a searing kiss.
"You're mine," he murmurs into the kiss.
Your hands slide into his hair as you mumble an agreement.
Before you can blink, your back is on the mattress and Alec is hovering above you. He trails his kisses down to your jaw and to your neck, slowly kissing his way to the neck of your top.
You can't help the stuttered breath that leaves you when he nips at your collarbone.
Looking down at him, a whisper of his name leaves your lips. "Alec..."
His eyes are near black when he looks up at you. You can't help but pull him back to your lips, teeth clashing as you both lose your sense. Not that you can be bothered to care; all you can focus on is 'Alec, Alec, Alec' playing like a mantra in your mind. His taste, his smell, his feel. He's invading all your senses and you couldn't be more content.
Alec loops a finger under the choker, pulling you to be impossibly closer. He breaks away only long enough to ask: "Let me show you who you belong to?"
"Please," your legs wrap around his hips in a futile attempt to pull him even closer.
An almost sadistic smirk appears on his face as he dives back to your lips. He hikes one of your legs higher so he can press his hips to yours and-
Oh.
Oh, it's going to be a long night.
Not that you can find it in yourself to mind...

Hey! So how do you think Alec would react to his mate being a metal head? 👀 like they listen to shit like Slipknot, Korn, Of Mice and Men, Motionless in White, Deftones, Black Sabbath, Motörhead and they go to concerts n all that. Like do you think him or any of the other members of the Volturi would vibe with it or nah? — 🕷️
So, this was a little hard for me because I'm not a fan of metal. HOWEVER, that doesn't mean that Alec or none of the other members of the Volturi aren't. And while this has some focus in metal, I tried to make it general for other genres too.
Music Headcanon - Alec
So, if there's one thing to know about Alec is that he is a huge collector of both books and music.
He even learned to play various instruments.
Although he does favor the piano since it helps both him and Jane relax.
Edward totally copied him.
He likes a wide range of music, alternative being his fav.
He loves collecting vinyls and was rather pissed when they stopped producing records for a while.
But he does enjoy having instant access on his phone now, too.
Now, metal in particular.
He could take it or leave it. It's neither here nor there.
He's more of an alternative person.
Metal was more of a Demetri thing.
Jane and Felix positively hate it.
However, since you've come along he's taken more of an interest.
It's still not his favorite.
BUT it's something his mate loves and enjoys after all.
He loves watching you bop around to your favorite songs.
He steals your phone all the time to search for new music.
He even sneaks a peek to add your favorites to his list.
He'll also send you new songs if he finds something he thinks you haven’t heard.
Which, let's be honest, is rare. You've heard quite a bit.
But you add it to the list you've made just for songs he's sent.
Anywho.
The latest album of your favorite band comes out?
It's in your hands the same day.
Want to go to a concert?
He's got you premium seating and VIP tickets to meet the band.
He'll even invest in the best earplugs he can find so he's right there with you.
The only thing he won't let you do is a mosh pit.
He's too protective if something were to go wrong.
Someone draws blood, even just a knick by accident, they're dead.
Eventually he makes you your own little corner in his music collection.
He'll be on the hunt for rare albums you want.
No price is too high.
All-in-all, if it makes you happy, he will do his best for you.

Are we in a Golden Age of Queer & Trans SF/F?
Hello and welcome to another ctan monthly update! It’s Pride Month, so today let’s talk about queer science fiction and fantasy. First some housekeeping: Mailchimp has been driving me nuts, with the newsletter sometimes displaying so tiny on mobile devices it was illegible. I’m trying on a new template today, with new fonts. Please let me know if this one looks better to you (or worse!) than before so I can keep improving it. Second, my apology this is a bit later than I intended, but I had knee surgery on Wednesday and as you can imagine it’s put a bit of a cramp into my schedule. I’ve discovered I would rather have my knee hurt and my brain work than be “pain free” but feel seasick from narcotics. Apparently opioids are not my friends! Bleah. And now to my slightly linkbait-y topic: are we in a “Golden Age” of queer and trans SF/F? Yes, yes we are, end of essay. Just kidding, of course I’m going to explain WHY my answer is yes. For the SFWA Nebulas Conference this month, I had proposed this question as a panel topic and was highly gratified it got chosen—even better, they let me moderate the panel, and SFWA populated it with a terrific slate that included Jordan Kurella, Charlie Jane Anders, Zabé Ellor, and L.P. Kindred. (I had also proposed “are we in a golden age of Asian SF/F?” which I also believe has a yes answer, but that one didn’t make the slate, so I’m trying to arrange it as a Zoom panel for later this summer for Capricon’s online programming. Stay tuned.) Jordan unfortunately had to miss the Nebs, so the other four of us soldiered on without him. One terrific thing about the slate of panelists is we had basically three generations represented. (If only we’d had a Boomer, we could have had four generations!) We each had different entry points to SF/F. So when I asked “Who was the first character in SF/F you read who you knew was queer?” we had four drastically different answers. Illustrating how far we’ve come: I, the Gen X “elder” on the panel, was the only one whose answer was a villain. Back when, it was a common trope to make a villain “extra evil” by slapping a coating of sexual deviance on them. Baron Harkonnen in DUNE was the first “gay” character I encountered. If only I’d stumbled upon Samuel R. Delany before Frank Herbert, eh? I didn’t get to Delany until I was in college. The first positive depiction of a gay character I could think of I read around 1990, in Ellen Kushner’s lovely book Swordspoint (Amazon, Bookshop), but the gay relationship between Alec and St. Vier is so delicately written there’s a kind of plausible deniability about it. But at least they’re both main characters—heroes, even! That book remains one of my faves to this day. Swordspoint was published in 1987, and right after I read it, another important book was published, Uranian Worlds, a bibliography compiled by Eric Garber and Lyn Paleo. Billed as “A Guide to Alternative Sexuality in Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror,” the book had first been published in 1980, and by 1990 needed a new edition because so many examples had to be added. Uranian Worlds was a complete bibliography of EVERY short story, book, or novella that included EVERY bit of representation of LGBTQ characters in sf/f/h for nearly fifty years… and it was only 280 pages long. Think about that. The editors of Uranian Worlds had scoured literature for every possible inclusion, small presses as well as large ones, queer lit mags as well as Asimov’s, for decades. And what they came up with just barely filled one not-that-big book. Nowadays, we have that much queer sf/f/h being published every year. If that ain’t a Golden Age, what is? The panel also talked about who the first SF/F writers were who we knew were queer or trans: for me it was Samuel R. Delany and Rachel Pollack (Rest in Peace, Rachel!) Now, I know more than I can count just from among my Twitter mutuals—and that’s not even counting the hundred-or-so queer writers I edited at Circlet Press! But speaking of writers being out. We discussed whether an author “owes” it to the audience to come out. Short answer: no. If you missed the discourse a few years back about “the helicopter story,” I won’t recap it here, but suffice to say it was just one high-profile example of an author being attacked online for apparently either being insufficiently “out” or not “visibly” conforming to audience notions of queerness, resulting in the author being treated like some kind of interloper or exploitative outsider…. which they might not have been. At this panel was the first time I felt there was consensus in the room that harm has been been done to queer and trans writers (by members of our own communities!) with the incessant questioning of “authenticity” and the demands on the public baring of identity. We’ve sharpened our knives to attack the systems that oppress us, but we can all too easily turn them on each other if/when we judge someone is “part of the problem.” As LP succinctly put it: we have to allow writers some grace. Zabé made an excellent point: you can’t treat sexual identity marginalizations exactly the same way you treat other marginalizations. Sexuality and gender are fluid, complex, and changing. There’s a huge difference between a white author pretending to be an author of color “for clout,” and an author who is in the closet or in transition writing about queer characters as a way to figure out their own sexuality or explore their identity. Charlie Jane mentioned that she and I know multiple writers who started out looking like “straight women getting off on writing about gay men” who are living as gay men now. Give people grace. Not everyone has the same safety, opportunity, or self-awareness to be “out.” In the late 80s and early 1990s, right after Swordspoint we had a small spate of queer flowering in SF/F, with Melissa Scott and Tanya Huff and Mercedes Lackey (Vanyel is the ultimate “bury your gays” trope, though…!) and others. Book publishing in the 1990s also went through a pro-diversity spasm, self-castigating about being too white, and SF/F being too male-dominated, as well. There was much talk about trying to diversify the writers being seen in anthologies, in best-of lists, and on award nomination slates. But the writers couldn’t just appear out of thin air. Not then. But they can now. We literally conjure them out of the aether—the Internet. What’s different now that has led to such increased numbers of queer and trans writers, but also the vastly increased representation of authors of color? It’s the Internet. The same Internet that is problematic as described above, nonetheless allows marginalized writers a visibility we wouldn’t have otherwise. It means that, for example, Hugo awards nominators can discover writers somewhere other than on a bookstore retail shelf. Editors can find and “meet” writers somewhere other than within New York publishing’s white-dominated cocktail circuit. This time when 21st century diversity initiatives have been launched, thanks to the power of the Internet, the writers and editors who emerged have been able to network and build a privilege structure of our own. Some of that happens with the help of SFWA, with things like the AAPI or BIPOC meetups at the Nebulas, and sometimes it happens with us building our own email lists, Discords, online magazines, anthologies, you name it. Instead of backsliding when the industry loses interest in the latest diversity “fad”, we’ve been able to keep expanding the opportunities for each other, to keep pulling each other up the ladder. It’s still not as strong or wide-reaching as some “old boy networks” out there, but SFWA itself is a far more diverse and welcoming place than it was in the 20th century, and the Nebulas conference really demonstrated that. There was much more said on the panel, of course, including what the four of us would consider a Platinum Age to be. (Btw, if you register as a Nebulas online attendee, btw, you can see the archived videos of all the panels from this year’s conference, including ours, and also participate in SFWA online programming all year round.) One final thought: it’s worth remembering that not only is this proliferation of queer and trans voices in the sf/f genres a massive improvement over 35, 25, or even 15 years ago, it’s also happening at the same time as a ton of book banning and book burning all across the USA. In fact, I believe book banning is so hot right now BECAUSE there are so many books coming out that don’t conform to the heterosexual conservative norms. SF/F has always been a place to dream of being different, and the genre is finally realizing its subversive potential. In the 1980s and ’90s we used to march through the streets chanting “We’re here, we’re queer, get used to it.” It feels to me like within the SF/F world, people finally have. DGC Vol 4 is live! Another month, another new edition! Volume 4 (of 13) is now live in Kindle Unlimited. In book 4, Moondog 3 hits the road for a major cross country tour and Daron must contend with a homophobic opening act, a budding friendship/attraction with a rock journalist, and the inexorable magnetism of Ziggy pulling him into his orbit every night on stage. READ IT NOW IN KU: https://amzn.to/3VuJvxN AND DGC VOL 1 is now WIDE! Book one is now on sale at various other outlets besides Amazon, although check out the “A+ content” I’ve added to the Amazon page, snazzy, no? Find vol one on Bookshop.org, Barnes & Noble paperback, Barnes & Noble Nook, and request the ebook to libraries through Overdrive. OR ADD IT TO YOUR GOODREADS TBR: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/9447189-daron-s-guitar-chronicles WIP Report I’m excited to report that one of the short stories I wrote while trying to get my brain back in gear after I had COVID in September has sold to Julia Rios for Worlds of Possibility! The title is “This Goodly Frame, The Earth,” which is a Shakespeare quote because I failed to think of anything else and Shakespeare is a good plan B. It’s about intergenerational diaspora trauma among the women of a filipina-american family, eldest daughter syndrome, and what happens when a ship full of humans that can bend space and time returns to an Earth in climate crisis far sooner than expected. It’s kind of hopepunk, I guess? Meanwhile, Windmark, a.k.a. “the unexpected dragon book,” has passed 50,000 words, but I feel like I’ve barely gotten out of act one? But I’m notorious for misjudging how far into a book I actually am. Until I’m actually done I really can’t tell you where the act breaks or beats are. I just know when it is done, then it will be obvious. A wisecracking nonbinary power bottom just showed up to boss around the hero (from the bottom, of course) and is in danger of taking over the story. I think I’m having the problem that both my main characters are suppressing their emotions so much because of the past trauma that made them hate each other, that they are coming across kind of flat and all the secondary characters seem much more colorful and interesting! Clearly something has to crack soon… I’m also having the problem that I’ve set up a really misogynistic culture, which means our heroine and all the female characters are very much living under a constant threat of sexual violence. I know we’re in the post-Game of Thrones era, which was rapey as all get out, but I really did not set out to write what is essentially female body horror with this book. I sidestepped the issue in The Prince’s Boy by having no female characters… except in the end there is the body horror once the villain comes into physical contact with our heroes. I have to figure out where this one is going to land and how exactly my heroine is going to come into her power. It’s funny, I had half convinced myself to just write another all-male cast book… and then this female-bodied character put her foot down and demanded to be written. So I just have to figure out how to do her justice. AND NOW PHOTOS FROM THE NEBULAS CONFERENCE Met Nghi Vo in real life for the first time! Many Circlet Press alums were at the Nebs (and Moniquill won one!) Caught up with David D. Levine (another Circlet alum), here with Vela Roth and Amy Young-Leith (and me) With Kate Pennington. Who knows a lot about whales! And SB Divya. And I have way more photos than this but this is enough picspam, don'tcha think? Tour Dates & Upcoming Appearances 2024: - July 11-14: Readercon, Boston area - August 7-11: SABR National Convention, Minneapolis - October 16-20: World Fantasy Con, Niagara Falls 2025: - January 17-20: Arisia, Cambridge, MA (new hotel: Hyatt Cambridge) - March 12-15: ICFA, Orlando, FL - August 13-17: Worldcon in Seattle, WA Upcoming Cons Readercon last year was a really great time, with a very good outdoor hangout area that turned into a nonstop literary green room party. I just got my schedule and it looks like tremendous fun. July 11-13 in Quincy, Massachusetts (just a few miles south of Boston proper). My reading will be on Thursday night. Should I read from the unexpected dragon book? Or the hopepunk story? Or something smuttier? Hmmm...... Parting Thoughts Okay, no book recs this time, but I will leave you with a link to one recipe, because it is strawberry season here in New England, and that means it is strawberry PIE season, as well. It’s also the season when fresh basil starts showing up in the farmer’s market. Some years ago I took the idea for a dessert we often see: a sort of dessert salad of strawberries served cut up with chopped basil, with a dressing made of balsamic vinegar and maple syrup, but I made it a pie instead. Find the whole recipe at my blog: https://blog.ceciliatan.com/archives/2412 By next month maybe I’ll have read some of the books in my pile and will have some recommendations… I have to finish the proofs and edits on Daron’s books 11, 12, and 13 first, though! Until then! -ctan Read the full article
